Introducing Fields of Resilience: A Dream Realized

I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember. Stories—especially from different cultures and places—always fascinated me. Growing up, this passion wasn’t exactly nurtured, but it also wasn’t discouraged. Still, I held onto that curiosity and dream.

In January 2023, I shared with my friend Hollie Stuart—an inspiring author and speaker—that she could expect my book within the next 2-3 years. At the time, I wasn’t certain what the book would be about or how it would take shape, but I was determined to create something meaningful. This goal was important enough to earn a place on my 2024 vision board and remains a priority on my 2025 vision board.

Now, I’m thrilled to share that Fields of Resilience is becoming a reality. This coffee table photo book combines photography and storytelling to highlight the incredible strength and beauty of Uganda—its landscapes, its people, and their stories. The framed photos from my time in Uganda hanging in my office constantly remind me why this project means so much to me. My connection to Uganda, the friendships I’ve built, and my work with Agri Planet Africa have all inspired me to bring this vision to life.

For years, I let the words of others hold me back—being told that my stories didn’t matter or that my writing wouldn’t impact anyone. Those words fueled my imposter syndrome, making me question whether my voice had value. But now, I know that if no one else, my inner child deserves this. And if sharing these stories opens even one heart or inspires even one person to lend a helping hand, then it’s worth it.

Fields of Resilience is more than just a book. It’s a bridge between storytelling and action. 80% of its proceeds will support Agri Planet Africa‘s work in empowering communities through sustainable agriculture and education.

I’m pouring every bit of my heart into this project, and I hope you’ll follow along with me. This journey has just begun, and I’m so excited to share it with you.

With gratitude,

Janelle
