Introducing Across the Threshold

Introducing my monthly Buddhistdoor Global column on Dharma, culture, belonging, service, and change, beginning with “What Travels With the Dharma?”

I’m happy to share a new home for some of my writing: Across the Threshold, my monthly column for Buddhistdoor Global.

Rooted in my Chan practice, the column explores culture, belonging, service, and change through encounters within and beyond the monastery. These are questions that also run through my work as a writer and documentary photographer: How do we enter unfamiliar communities? What assumptions do we bring, and what helps us listen more carefully?

The opening article, “What Travels With the Dharma?”, reflects on my Buddhist life in Oklahoma, Taiwan, and Uganda, and on the familiarity and assumptions we carry between communities.

My debut appeared on November 6, 2026, and was featured in the homepage’s Features section at publication. I’m grateful to editor Raymond Lam for his encouragement and the opportunity to contribute.
